　　It is ten o'clock. Mrs Sawyer usually stays at home in the morning, but this morning, she is going to the shops.

　　It is four o’clock. In the afternoon, Mrs Sawyer usually drinks tea in the living-room, but this afternoon, she is drinking tea in the garden.

　　It is six o’clock. In the evening, the children usually do their homework, but this evening, they are not doing their homework. At the moment, they are playing in the garden.

　　一般現(xiàn)在時與現(xiàn)在進行時

　　一般現(xiàn)在時表示一般的動作或不斷重復發(fā)生的動作；現(xiàn)在進行時表示說話時正在發(fā)生的動作，動作還沒有完成。簡單圖示如下：

　　一般現(xiàn)在時表示永久的情況；進行時表示暫時的情況。請比較：

　　Jane works very hard most of the time.

　　簡大多工作努力。

　　Jane is working hard today.

　　簡今天工作很努力。

　　His parents live in Rome.

　　他父母住在羅馬。

　　He’s living with some friends now.

　　他現(xiàn)在與一些朋友們住在一起。

　　進行時只用于表示動作或偶爾發(fā)生的事件（We are eating, it is raining等等）。有些動詞（如like, want, know等）不是動作動詞，因此不能用進行時態(tài)，如不能說I am knowing或We are liking，而只能說I know或We like。

　　一般現(xiàn)在時表達某個習慣性動作，通常與時間頻度副詞連用，如usually, always, often, sometimes, never等；現(xiàn)在進行時表示此時此刻正在進行的動作，一般與now, at the moment, today, this afternoon, this evening, tonight等連用。如：

　　We usually watch television at night. But we are listening to the stereo tonight.

　　我們通常晚上看電視。但是今晚我們正在聽立體聲節(jié)目。
