15-month-old might be a little bit young for a boy to grasp the concept behind the Elf on the Shelf craze, but that doesn't mean he can't join in.

A doting father of five has transformed his 15-month-old son, Rockwell, into a living Elf on the Shelf for the second Christmas in a row, and the results are as adorable as ever.

Alan Lawrence, 41, from Paradise, Utah, first turned his little boy into the Elf last Christmas, when Rockwell was just four months old.

His latest batch of photos show a slightly older - but no less cute. In one of the new images shared on his Instagram page, Rockwell is seen sitting beside a demolished advent calendar.

Speaking previously to Today, Mr Lawrence explained why he started the Elf on the Shelf series with Rockwell:

'All of our friends do the Elf on the Shelf and I've always thought it was sort of creepy, but sort of fun - this idea of an elf coming to live in your home and moving around to different place,' he said.

'And I'm like, what if it was a real elf? And of course, being parents, we already have the cutest little four-month-old. So we decided to make a fun series.'
